UNPRECEDENTED BREAKTHROUGH  IN THE JOB MARKET

Nothing is permanent including changes, they are inevitable,  the 21st century has seen many advancement in technology. The technology has made changes in the job sector as well as the organizations’ culture. Nowadays, the job market is technologically driven. As the society complexity increases by the day, job seekers need to technologically position themselves in a vantage position in order to effectively discharge  their mandate in the job sector.  Prior employers could just accept anything, but today with the technology the process of doing jobs, nature of jobs, evaluation of jobs, payment for jobs as well as the dissemination of the same has been reshaped.

Technology concept, just like some fruits has a sweet and bitter tastes. The technology has in one way or the other influenced the employment positively and negatively. Capturing the positive aspects, the technology has created a new global neighborhood that has brought unique breakthrough in this digital era. In this era of global communication,  jobs can be done at the comfort of our homes. As such, with technology at hand, homes has been improvised to serve the purposes of offices.

Secondly, with technology businesses and jobs can be conducted virtually thus serve clients in different continents. Due to technological advancement, humanity has recorded collapsing of boundaries and times. With technology personnel can work at any time and from different corners of the world, the employee do not have to move from one location to the other; with internet the jobs are done effectively.

Thirdly, efficiency in doing jobs, easiness of doing jobs and speed at which jobs are done  are noticeable aspects.  With technology, it possible to do research required to meet the clients needs without wastage of time.  With digital and online resources, one does not require  to move to physical libraries for resources, all the required resources are available online. The technology has made work easier  and a lot  of competency in the job market.

Additionally,  every change comes with new opportunities. With changes technology inclusive, traditional societies and job industries metamorphose into modern ones. As such, new opportunities for job seekers. The technology has brought about new platforms which comes with new opportunities for the society and for the job market.

Noticeably, there is  increased productivity which has been enabled by technology. The output is high compared to manpower; this is because the technology reduces the burden on personnel and repetition of tasks.  In conjunction to this, the technology, has led to convergence, that is different jobs have been brought together in one platform, this is because the technology allows multimediality which calls for technical know-how of personnel.

Lastly, demand of multi-skilled personnel is high, it is increasing daily as the technology advances. As such, more platforms for multiple skills and technology know- how.  With this the issue of unemployment is solved.  It is an added advantage to those with knowledge and multiple skills in maneuvering online.

However, on the negative perspective technology has its major headaches. It is argued, no matter its prosperity there are those more noticeable consequences in the job market; there can  be no technology application within a system without a cost. On one hand, the technology is forcing people to update their know-how for relevance  in the job market. On the other hand, there is redundancy of traditional jobs; the automation enabled by technology has threatened many jobs where machines and gadgets has replaced manpower. For instance, the bio metrics which has replaced manual recording of data in organizations.

In conclusion  it has been established beyond all reasonable doubt that technology is the answer to effectiveness in the job market in this jet age. Regardless of the disadvantages that comes along with shift in technology, the technology is ruling the world, job market is inclusive.

                  ARE THERE MORE JOBS LEFT???

Hire Me! Hire Me! Has been an order and the rhythm of the day and night, as thousands of graduates tarmac trying to make ends meet from one office to another, as well as from one company to another without   succeeding in getting a job. But why and who is to be blamed for this?  Knowing we are well into the new millennium and new technology has been fully implemented, leading to more and more inventions and innovations daily creating a lot of job opportunities.
Ten years back it all had been perfect! And everyone worked extremely hard to join an institution of higher learning for more knowledge. This guaranteed the graduates white collar jobs which were readily available in different organizations. Graduates needed not to walk for miles and miles as well as trade their multiple degree certificates and resumes well written on papers or through the new media.
I know you can bear me witness that since childhood we all had significant personalities whom we admired to emulate as well as work with in the same firms and organizations. But today this is becoming a dream yet to come true bearing in mind that the unemployment rate is rising up daily in our country where 60% of youths and 40% of Kenyans are jobless according to a research recently done.
Lower paying services is becoming one of the most daunting challenge to an extent that  graduates have to go through the pains of lower- income jobs before getting a higher paying job. Available jobs are being offered to the less qualified people, who necessarily need not to have university education to survive. In fact, graduates today with multiple degrees cannot find jobs that pay enough to sustain a decent lifestyle. These challenges have made graduates think outside the box and end up in self-employment as well as work in other countries hence leading to brain drain.
Nowadays one of the qualifications to jobs offered in the government fields and other well-known institutions is experience; a minimum of five years’ experience and a maximum of fifteen years as seen  in our Newspapers in the jobs advertisement page. This has become a very crucial requirement. The jobs being offered   with no experience pay very little, with very minimal chances for pay increase and therefore competition to get a promotion becomes a fierce.
Corruption is another issue where one has to know someone or bribe for a better job even without the knowledge in a certain field as well as the qualifications leaving the graduates jobless who later end up in businesses.
Unemployment challenge has led to a lot of chaos and soaring of crime rates all over the country and it is therefore common to find graduates idling on pavements or in groups doing nothing and engaging in drug abuse. Idleness brought about by lack of jobs has caused graduates to be used by  unscrupulous politicians  to cause chaos and start gangs to terrorize innocent people.
